It seems to be a slap in the face to all the thousands of victims of child sexual abuse inside Watchtower. -

GEOFFREY JACKSON THE PERSONABLE FACE OF JW.ORG...BUT IT AIN'T OVER YET BUDDY
by steve2 insince geoffrey jackson's appearance before the australian royal commission on friday there has for some been an expressed feeling of anticlimax.
it is as though he was given too much latitude to preach, to claim ignorance and to skirt questions.
more to the point, as much as i myself thought i would never have expected to say this, gj actually came across as likeable and - don't throttle me please!

The Bible itself is just a book of stories. It was the people behind the compilation that had the agenda.
And now we have the people behind the interpretation of the compiled book of Jewish stories that has an agenda. And their primary agenda is that the womenfolk shouldn't be jumping up and arguing with the men. Instead, women should be in the kitchen quietly making sandwiches for the menfolk.

It's interesting that, as noted in other threads, JWs have watched this and thought GJ "gave a great witness". In my opinion, GJ did well enough that at least the sheeples are willing to watch it and not dismiss it as "apostate propaganda". I'm also of the opinion that GJ presented enough statements as a GB member to muddy the waters on some WT teachings and practices where he presented half-truths.
Last but not least, he clearly stated that this is a serious problem in WT that needs governmental laws to force them to do the right thing.

Discussing the RC with a friend and my JW wife was listening.
by Driving Force ini am fuming at the moment and my wife has made me so angry.. i live in germany and an ex jw, a friend of mine is also ex jw but does not understand english so i was giving him a rundown on the friday session of the rc with gj.
my wife was in another part of the house but heard my phone ring and so she came to listen, i did not realize this, because when the phone rang i closed two doors between myself and my wife.
she opened the first door and started listening to the conversation.

I think your experience here is worth documenting and sending to the RC. I appreciate that McClellan would think that adding women to the judicial process might make it more just and effective. However, this example shows how women in the organization can be just as fanatical about oppressing others to silence anything that might put the JWs in a negative light.
Have you recorded any of these exchanges with your wife? I think it would be most interesting if you would be able to completely document this situation where you come under fire from the congregation and are divorced from your wife because you think that children need to be protected from sexual abuse, but they do not.

GB member Geoffrey Jackson is lying!
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inokay, i know the royal commission hasn't started yet.
but i'm confident enough that he will be telling some whoppers.
so i thought i'd be the first to get a thread started for something that will begin... very soon now!.

I wonder if Angus will point out that WT has disfellowshipped people like Barbara for pointing out the flaws of WT policy.
Turn. Now Angus has pointed out that WT calls the need for correction to be apostate lies.
Jacko is trying to talk his way out of a corner.
Edit to add: Strangely, this post just suddenly appeared on this thread, although I had written it last night during the live broadcast. But it never appeared on the thread last night. Now it's reappeared like magic. Must be the work of demunz!

GJ believes that a very good question deserves a thoroughly unsatisfying answer. -

Heaven, of course women can't be elders. They are incapable of the required adult behavior that comes naturally to all men. Weren't you listening while he explained how women are always excitedly jumping up and arguing during meetings? -

"That's not my area of expertise."
Although he said it several times, I think it was surprising when he said it after being asked a question about something in the elduhs manual. I think there was a question, "What is the difference between 'child' and 'youth' here?"
- If this "translator" doesn't have a handle on English words, what is his job?
- And this manual is supposed to be used and understood by every elder, isn't GJ an elder?
- Who IS the expert that all the elders are supposed to call in order to understand the phrases in their manual?

Mr Jackson said the GB has apologized in the past?
by notsurewheretogo inplease enlighten me as to where and when...
-

When he said the GB has apologized, I think he was referring to an incident in the bethel sauna involving Freddie Franz, a towel, and several newboys. -

exJW Psychology 102--How to Ask a Question When Questions Aren't Allowed
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite innow that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.
i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.
however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

In light of the events with the Royal Commission, I think it's time to bump up this thread.
Now that WT's pedophilia problem is back in the news, it would be very easy to tell "the friends" that people in the territory, at work, or at school are talking bad about JWs not protecting children, over a thousand in Australia alone.
And after watching a parade of mind-numb JW elders, branch nuts, and GJ of the GB at the RC, we have seen Theocratic Warfare in action. Such a barrage of half-truths and double-talk, we can feel free to fight fire with fire. WT is hoping that "worldly people" aren't paying attention to this news. Time to turn Theocratic Warfare back on them and let them know that people are talking about it... indeed, all nonJWs should be talking about this at least.
Here's a couple of suggestions from my Theocratic Arsenal:
- Know an elder that annoys you about getting out to preach? Tell him that a return visit is very upset after seeing a WT YouTube video that showed a bunch of elders explaining that the Bible doesn't allow them to report perverts to the police and admit that JWs are in a captive organization. Ask him what you should say when you go back... if you go back?
- Know a sister that is a busybody and drives you nuts? Write a letter to 25 Columbia Heights asking for an application to become a Female Elders Assistant that GJ described. Include the name of the congregation with a comment that you personally are away of many ways the elders need help. Sign her name on the letter and send it in.
